Julia Menton
2012-2013 State President
Julia Menton is currently a Senior at Marriotts Ridge High School, and she has spent the past four years heavily involved in her FBLA chapter. In her freshman year, Julia attended the National Fall Leadership Conference in Baltimore, and this is where her journey began. The next year, Julia took on multiple positions on her chapter’s officer team and was elected as Chapter President since 2011. Throughout Julia’s years in FBLA, she has attended numerous Regional, State, and National Leadership conferences. FBLA has helped Julia grow as a leader, and she is honored to have previously served as the 2011 State Reporter-Historian and currently serves as Maryland State President. Outside of FBLA, Julia participates in her school’s French Club and Model UN. Julia is excited to work with this year’s State Officer team in order to Ignite Innovation for Maryland FBLA! |
Colby Poffenberger
2012-2013 State Vice President
Colby Poffenberger, a senior at Clear Spring High School in Washington County, MD, is proud to be serving as your 2012-2013 Maryland FBLA State Vice-President! Colby has been involved with FBLA since his freshman year. He has won many Local and State awards, and was the Region 1 Vice President in 2011-2012. His attendance at FBLA conferences has been remarkable; attending every leadership conference that has been offered to him. He has also served as his Local Chapter President two years in a row. Colby is an A.P. and Honors student as well as a member of National Honors Society, History Club, and Student Government Association. Colby maintains a 3.75 G.P.A while working part time at OfficeMax during the school year. Colby is excited to be working with the new State Officer Team and is looking forward to Igniting Innovation with Maryland FBLA members! |
Erica Shields
2012-2013 State Secretary-Treasurer
Erica T. Shields is an up and coming junior at Huntingtown High School in Calvert County, MD. Along with being State Secretary- Treasurer, Erica is the new president of her local chapter. Having alumni as siblings, she was the first of her graduating class to join FBLA. After attending her first NFLC in Washington, D.C., Erica had finally found her passion. She then went on to become the only freshman on her local officer team fulfilling the position of Treasurer. She has also attended every NFLC, FLC, SLC, and NLC since her freshman year. Although only a junior, Erica has won numerous local and state awards, including being a two- time regional and state placing competitor along with her completion of the Future and Business level of the Business Achievement Awards. She is an A.P. and honors student as well as an active member of Best Buddies, Key Club, Academy of Finance, Sophomore Student Council, Student Senate, and Tutoring Programs. Erica maintains a 3.8 GPA, while participating in her school’s Varsity Basketball, Tennis, Track and Mock Trial teams. Erica looks forward to Igniting Innovation and taking her chapter and Maryland State FBLA to an epic level. |
Sydney Saniel
2012-2013 State Reporter-Historian
A Senior at River Hill High School, Sydney Sanial is excited to serve as your 2012-2013 State Reporter-Historian. Sydney has been a member of FBLA for four years, where she has served on the local and state level. She was the reporter for her chapter her junior year and this year serves as River Hill FBLA's Project Manager. Sydney loves the service and education opportunities that FBLA provides, but her favorite part is where all the magic comes alive: the conferences. As the Reporter-Historian this year, Sydney hopes to increase communication with the local chapters and produce awareness for their activities through the monthly newsletter. Outside of FBLA, Sydney is the Editor-in-chief for River Hill's newspaper, The Current, and works with the Student Government Executive Board. Natalie Tran
2012-2013 State Webmaster
Natalie Tran, a junior at River Hill High School, is extremely honored to serve as your 2012-2013 Maryland State Webmaster. For Natalie, FBLA is her passion, she has attended numerous conferences at all levels of FBLA, has served on her Local Chapter team as Chapter Freshman Ambassador (2010), Chapter Treasurer (2011), and currently serves as Chapter President. She has also has several notable achievements from FBLA activities: along with competition she has completed the Future and Business level of Business Achievement Awards, Membership Madness & Mania, as well as taking her chapter’s community service project to new heights. Outside of FBLA, Natalie is an involved student in several activities, such as Hawk Talk. Tessa Guiv
2012-2013 State Parliamentarian
Tessa Guiv is a senior at River Hill High School and is excited to serve as your 2012-2013 Maryland State Parliamentarian! She has been involved in FBLA since her freshman year and has attended numerous regional, state, and national conferences. Tessa has also participated and placed in several competitive events at the state level. Through her experiences in FBLA, she has gained many leadership skills and has learned the importance of team work in making a group successful. In addition to FBLA, Tessa is also heavily involved in her school’s National Honor Society and enjoys the community service projects she participates in through this organization. Tessa is very enthusiastic about this upcoming year in FBLA and is ready to ignite innovation throughout Maryland FBLA! |
Carly Yost
2012-2013 Region 1 Vice President
Carly Yost, a senior at Clear Spring High School, is honored to be serving as your 2012-2013 Region I Vice President. During her four years in this organization she has attended many Regional, State, and National Conferences, as well as participated in numerous other FBLA activities. She was her 2010-2011 local chapter secretary, 2011-2012 local chapter vice president, and now is the 2012-2013 local chapter executive committee chair. She has presided over her local community service committee two years in a row, and chaired the 2012 FBLA Week Committee at her school which placed second at States. She placed both regionally and statewide for several competitive events over the years. In her school, Carly is also a part of History Club, Student Government, National Honors Society, Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Indoor Track, Varsity Outdoor Track, and the CTE Student Ambassador program. She is involved with her community by volunteering at the local hospital.Carly is ready to ignite innovation with Maryland FBLA. |
Daniel Kozlowski
2012-2013 Region 2 Vice President
Daniel Kozlowski is a senior at Hereford High School in Baltimore County. Daniel has been a member of FBLA since he was a sophmore and is looking forward to his final year of FBLA. At the end of his first year in FBLA he ran for president of his local chapter and won the position. In his sophmore year Daniel placed 1st in Business Math at the regional level, and in his junior he placed 5th place in Entrepreneurship at the state level. Daniel decided to run for Region Two Vice President so that he could get more involved in FBLA. When he attened the State Leadership Conference, he enjoyed running for his position and also enjoyed meeting all of the many members from Maryland FBLA. Along with being an active member of FBLA, Daniel is a hard worker both inside and outside of school. He works two jobs during the school year and also runs his own pet and home sitting service. Daniel looks forward to working with his fellow state officers and Igniting Innovation! |

Megan Bunn
2012-2013 Region 7 Vice President
Megan Bunn, a junior at Huntingtown High School in Calvert County, is honored and thrilled to serve as your Region 7 VP for the 2012-2013 school year! Megan has been involved in FBLA since her freshman year, and since has served in multiple officer positions and as the chair person for many committees. She has received numerous awards at the Regional and State level in Desktop Publishing and Public Speaking. Outside of FBLA, Megan is an officer in Student Class Council and is heavily involved in theatre and chorus, performing at the regional, state and national levels. She is an honors and AP student and maintains a 3.8 GPA. She is beyond excited to set into motion the goals the State Officer Team has set to Ignite Innovation in Maryland FBLA this school year! |
Josh Dixon
2012-2013 Region 8 Vice President
Josh Dixon, a junior at Chesapeake High School in Anne Arundel County, is honored to be able to serve his second term as your 2012–2013 Maryland FBLA Region 8 Vice President. Along with the State Region 8 Vice President he is also his Local chapters two-time serving President, a member of the National Honor Society, and a member at Riviera Beach Volunteer Fire Company where he is training to become an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician). As a returning State Officer, he plans to use his experience to lead the State Officer team and Maryland FBLA to grow even more! Josh is also a two-time placing competitor at States, and a one-time National FBLA competitor! With last year being Josh’s first year as his Local Chapters President, he has lead his chapter to new heights and is extremely excited to lead them even further this year, along with Maryland FBLA! Josh plans to increase communication in all of Maryland FBLA and host his second successful Region 8 Leadership Conference! Josh is looking forward to making an impact and Igniting Innovation with Maryland FBLA!! |
Scott Lee
2012-2013 Region 9 Vice President
Scott Lee is currently a senior at Atholton High School in Columbia, MD and is incredibly honored to be given the opportunity to serve as the Region 9 Vice President. Though he is new to the state officer team, Scott, who has been a dedicated member for the organization, certainly is not new to FBLA. Having joined FBLA as a freshman in 2009, Scott has been an active participant in FBLA events, fundraisers, and competitions. Such persistence and dedication has given him the opportunity to serve as a chapter officer for two straight years and has yielded him some noteworthy achievements on the competition front. In 2012, Scott placed first in the Business Communications competition in his region and subsequently placed fourth in the state. This year, as the Region 9 VP and his local chapter's president, Scott aims to expand FBLA's presence and reach to more students across his region and hopes to foster stronger communication between local chapters. Outside of FBLA, Scott is an avid tennis player who recently placed second in his region and qualified for the MD State Championships in 2012. He feels that FBLA and varsity tennis are the two extracurriculars that define his high school experience. Overall, he is really excited to embark upon another exciting year and hopes to boost Maryland FBLA's standing on the national stage. |
